The full Hollow Knight map, explained
Hallownest is big, and the game never shows you all of it at once. The in-game world map only draws the areas you have bought a map for, and only the rooms you have walked through and then recorded at a bench. A first playthrough can easily reach the credits with a third of the kingdom still blank. That is why so many players go looking for a full Hollow Knight map outside the game.
The map at the top of this page is the complete Hollow Knight map: every room of all 20 areas, stitched into one image you can pan and zoom, with 439 locations marked on top. The Forgotten Crossroads sit in the centre under Dirtmouth. Greenpath and the Howling Cliffs run off to the west, Crystal Peak climbs the north east, the City of Tears fills the middle right, Deepnest sprawls across the south west and the Abyss lies at the very bottom. Hollow Knight map locations and markers
Every marker on the map is a real, checked location. The set covers all 46 grubs, every charm, mask shard, vessel fragment and pale ore, the whispering roots, benches, stag stations, relics, keys, abilities, vendors, NPCs, bosses, Warrior Dreams and the three Dreamers. Click any pin for a short description, what you need to reach it, and a link to the area it belongs to.
This is different from the map markers inside the game. In Hollow Knight, Iselda sells pins for 100 to 180 Geo each, and a pin only shows things you have already discovered. She also sells coloured markers you place by hand to remember a wall you could not break or a gap you could not cross. Both are useful, but neither tells you where something is before you find it. The Hollow Knight map markers here do exactly that, which makes this page the faster tool when you are hunting the last few items for 112 percent.
How to use the interactive Hollow Knight map
Drag to pan and scroll or pinch to zoom. The panel on the left groups every category, so you can show only grubs, only benches, or any mix you like. The search box finds a marker by name, and selecting a pin highlights every other pin of the same type. Tick "Mark as found" and the pin fades out; the All, Remaining and Found tabs then turn the map into a personal checklist. Progress is saved in your browser with no account, so an interactive Hollow Knight map session picks up where you left it, on the same device.
A good habit for Hollow Knight map exploration is to work one area at a time. Open the area from the grid above, set the tab to Remaining, and sweep it after you pick up a new movement ability. Mantis Claw, Crystal Heart, Monarch Wings and Isma's Tear each reopen rooms you have already passed, and the marker descriptions say which ability a location needs, so you do not waste a trip.
Area maps players look up most
Greenpath. The Greenpath Hollow Knight map folds back on itself and hides dead ends behind acid pools, so it is one of the first places players get lost. Cornifer sells the map in the west for 60 Geo. The Stone Sanctuary sits in east Greenpath, just below the Hunter's den. On the Hollow Knight map the Stone Sanctuary is a small dark chapel with a bench outside, a mask shard in the room north east of the grave, and the Warrior Dream No Eyes inside. Bring the Lumafly Lantern.
City of Tears. The City of Tears Hollow Knight map is the largest mapped area in the game, a tall grid of towers rather than caves. It holds the Soul Sanctum, the Watcher's Spire, the Tower of Love, Lemm's relic shop, the Nailsmith and two stag stations. Cornifer is close to the main gate and charges 90 Geo.
Crystal Peak. The Crystal Peak Hollow Knight map is vertical and full of one-way drops, which is why the 112 Geo map is worth buying early. The area has seven grubs, more than any other, plus the Crystal Heart at its far east end past the Crystal Guardian.
White Palace. There is no White Palace Hollow Knight map in the game at all. The palace exists inside a dream, Cornifer never enters it, and your position is not tracked. Our area page lays out the route room by room instead, including the Path of Pain entrance.
The Hollow Knight map guy
The Hollow Knight map guy is Cornifer, the humming cartographer. He sets up in 12 areas, leaves a trail of loose paper leading to his spot, and sells that area's map for 75 percent of what his wife Iselda charges in Dirtmouth. Buying from him also fills in the rooms he has already surveyed, which gives you the shape of a new area before you explore it. Hollow Knight map vs Silksong map
Silksong map vs Hollow Knight map is a common mix-up: the two games share a map system but not a map. The Hollow Knight map covers Hallownest and follows the Knight. The Silksong map covers Pharloom, a separate kingdom explored by Hornet, split between Outer Pharloom and the towering Citadel. In Silksong the cartographer is Shakra instead of Cornifer, maps cost rosaries instead of Geo, the quill is 50 rosaries and the compass 70. The rules underneath are the same: one map per region, a quill before anything gets recorded, and a redraw only when you rest at a bench. Printing the map as a poster
Plenty of players want a Hollow Knight map poster for the wall. The base image used here is 4603 by 3085 pixels, which prints cleanly at around 60 by 40 cm (roughly A2) and acceptably up to A1 from normal viewing distance. It comes from the Hollow Knight Wiki under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence, so a print for personal use is fine as long as the credit stays with it. How the map works inside the game
Hollow Knight does not give you a map for free. Each area's map is sold by Cornifer, the humming cartographer, and later by his wife Iselda in Dirtmouth. Your map only fills in when you sit at a bench, and only if you own the Quill. Pins, the Wayward Compass and the Collector's Map are all separate purchases.

How do you unlock the map in Hollow Knight?
You unlock the map one area at a time. Each area has its own map, and you buy it from Cornifer inside that area. Follow the trail of scattered papers and the humming to find him. You also need the Quill, which Iselda sells in Dirtmouth for 120 Geo, because a map never fills itself in without it. If you miss Cornifer, Iselda sells the same map in Dirtmouth for about a third more Geo.
Where is Cornifer in each area?
Cornifer moves to a new area as you progress. He sits in the western Forgotten Crossroads, west Greenpath, north west Fungal Wastes, near the City of Tears entrance, upper Crystal Peak, west Royal Waterways, east Howling Cliffs, west Fog Canyon, central Queen's Gardens, near the Kingdom's Edge entrance, lower Deepnest and a small cavern in the Ancient Basin. He is never in the Resting Grounds, so that map comes from Iselda for 75 Geo.
Why is my map not updating in Hollow Knight?
The map only redraws when you sit on a bench, and only if you own the Quill. If you bought an area map but never bought the Quill for 120 Geo, nothing you explore gets recorded. If you own both and the map is still blank, you are probably in an area you have not bought the map for, or in an unmapped place like the White Palace, Godhome, the Abyss or the Hive.
How many grubs are there in Hollow Knight?
There are 46 grubs. Freeing them unlocks escalating rewards from the Grubfather in the Forgotten Crossroads, including a Mask Shard at 5, the Grubsong charm at 10, a Rancid Egg at 16, a Hallownest Seal at 23 and Grubberfly's Elegy at all 46. Crystal Peak has the most with seven, and the Collector in the Tower of Love holds three.
What is 112% completion in Hollow Knight?
It is the maximum completion percentage with all free content packs installed: 100 percent from the base game, 6 percent from the Grimm Troupe, 1 percent from Lifeblood and 5 percent from Godmaster. It counts 36 charms, 14 bosses, 7 Warrior Dreams, 7 equipment items at 2 percent each, 6 spells, 4 nail upgrades, 3 nail arts, 3 Dreamers, 3 Colosseum trials, 4 mask upgrades, 3 vessel upgrades and 3 Dream Nail milestones.
Which areas are not on the Hollow Knight map?
The White Palace, Godhome, the Colosseum of Fools, the Hive and the Abyss have no map of their own and do not appear on the world map. Cornifer never surveys them and Iselda has nothing to sell for them. The Resting Grounds does have a map, but only Iselda sells it.

Where is the Stone Sanctuary on the Hollow Knight map?
The Stone Sanctuary is in east Greenpath, directly below the Hunter's den. It is a small, dark ruined chapel with a bench outside. Inside you can wake the Warrior Dream No Eyes with the Dream Nail, and there is a Mask Shard in the room north east of her grave. The Lumafly Lantern makes it much easier to navigate.
What are map markers in Hollow Knight?
There are two kinds. Pins, sold by Iselda for 100 to 180 Geo, automatically mark every bench, vendor, stag station, hot spring, cocoon, tram, Whispering Root or Warrior's Grave you have already discovered. Buy it from Cornifer in west Greenpath for 60 Geo. From the Forgotten Crossroads entrance go left, drop down the long vertical shaft, then take the right-hand opening at the bottom and follow the humming and the trail of paper. If you miss him, Iselda sells the map for Greenpath in her Dirtmouth shop for 80 Geo.
Where is the map in Crystal Peak in Hollow Knight?
Cornifer sells the Crystal Peak map in the upper part of the area for 112 Geo. From the eastern top entrance go right past the conveyor belts and climb through the crystal rooms; he sits in the top left of the large crystal chamber. Iselda sells the same map in Dirtmouth for 150 Geo.
How do you get the map in Fog Canyon in Hollow Knight?
Cornifer is in west Fog Canyon and charges 150 Geo, which makes it one of the two most expensive maps in the game. From Queen's Station go up and left, climb to the top of the room, then head left again until you hear him humming. Iselda's price for the Fog Canyon map is 200 Geo.
Where do you get the map of the Fungal Wastes in Hollow Knight?
From Cornifer in the north west Fungal Wastes for 75 Geo. Coming in from the Forgotten Crossroads, drop to the bottom of the entrance shaft, go left twice and drop through the gap in the floor. Iselda sells the Fungal Wastes map for 100 Geo if you miss him.
How do you get the grub map in Hollow Knight?
The grub map is the Collector's Map. You get it by beating the Collector at the top of the Tower of Love in the City of Tears, which needs the Love Key from the Queen's Gardens. Once you own it, every grub you have not yet freed is pinned on your in-game map. Until then, the grub filter on this interactive map shows all 46 locations.
Where is Godhome on the Hollow Knight map, and is there a map of Godhome?
Godhome is not on the world map and has no map of its own, because it is a dream realm rather than a physical area. The way in is the Junk Pit in the west Royal Waterways: use Desolate Dive to break through the floor below the Waterways bench, open the Godseeker's cocoon with a Simple Key and hit her with the Dream Nail. After that you can return to Godhome by Dream Nailing her again. It needs the free Godmaster content pack.
Where is Nosk on the Hollow Knight map?
Nosk is in a hidden lair in east Deepnest. The way in is a dark side passage, and a fake copy of the Knight runs ahead to lure you towards it. The Lumafly Lantern makes the approach far easier. Beating Nosk is worth 1 percent completion and gives access to a Pale Ore at the back of the lair.
Where do you upgrade your nail on the Hollow Knight map?
At the Nailsmith's workshop in the far west of the City of Tears. He forges four upgrades: Sharpened Nail for 250 Geo, Channelled Nail for 800 Geo and 1 Pale Ore, Coiled Nail for 2000 Geo and 2 Pale Ore, and Pure Nail for 4000 Geo and 3 Pale Ore. Nail Arts are separate and are taught by the Nailmasters Mato, Sheo and Oro.
Where do you find Pale Ore on the Hollow Knight map?
There are six Pale Ore, exactly enough for every nail upgrade. They are at Hallownest's Crown on top of Crystal Peak, west of the tram station in the Ancient Basin, in Nosk's lair in Deepnest, as the reward for the Trial of the Conqueror in the Colosseum of Fools, from the Seer at 300 Essence, and from the Grubfather after rescuing 31 grubs. Turn on the Pale Ore filter to see all six.
Where is the bank on the Hollow Knight map?
The bank is a small hut in Fog Canyon, just west of Queen's Station, run by Millibelle the Banker. Be careful: once you have deposited 2550 Geo or more and then rest at a bench, she closes the bank and runs off with your money. You can find her later in the Pleasure House in the City of Tears, which needs the Elegant Key, and hitting her returns more Geo than she stole.

Yes. Everything you tick off is stored in your own browser, so it is still there when you come back on the same device. There is no login, no account and no email required, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. Clearing your browser data or switching devices will reset it.
